Our Story

The journey to starting my company began with a persistent itch—literally. After moving from Ghana to Canada in 2003, I struggled with dry, irritated skin. I visited doctors repeatedly, tried prescription creams, and experimented with different laundry detergents, but nothing seemed to help.

Eventually, I remembered the natural Shea butter I had used throughout my childhood and into adulthood back in Ghana. Determined to find relief, I searched online and ordered a small jar of unrefined Shea butter. I began using it the very day it arrived—and within a week or two, I noticed a significant improvement in my skin. The dryness and itching had eased, and for the first time in years, I felt comfortable in my own skin again.

After a month of consistent use, an idea sparked: what if I could help others facing similar issues, especially in Canada's harsh winter climate? At the same time, I saw an opportunity to support the women back in my hometown in Northern Ghana who produce Shea butter—by engaging in fair trade and creating a meaningful connection between communities.

In April 2019, I traveled to Ghana and brought back some Shea butter for my family. I also took a small sample to Dad’s Organic Market here in Saskatoon. The response was incredibly positive—so much so that one associate, Kathlyn from the Body Care Department, asked me, “Can you keep up with us? We restock quickly.” I confidently replied, “Yes, I can, Kathlyn.”

Motivated and encouraged, I began researching potential suppliers in Northern Ghana, with help from my family back home. We eventually partnered with a woman-owned factory that aligned with my values. I placed a small initial order of 50kg, and on September 19, 2019, Dad’s Organic Market received their first delivery of my Shea butter.

Today, I continue to share nature’s gifts—Shea Butter, Baobab, Moringa, Neem Oil, and Kombo Butter—through clean and pure natural skincare products. These ingredients not only nourish the skin but also promote environmental sustainability and empower communities in Africa. What began as a personal search for relief has blossomed into a business rooted in care, connection, and purpose.
